Thoughts Abroad

Beige has never really been a colour I've commonly worn. Really, up until last year I wouldn't have been caught wearing this entire outfit. It's not that I wouldn't have liked the outfit before, I just wouldn't have made the effort when I was living in Australia. I believe many guys relate to this simply because clothes are so darn expensive in Australia. Since living in the Philippines I've been blessed to have the opportunity to indulge in different tastes in style simply because the clothes are more affordable.

This Jack London button-down I picked up really tops it off. And when you simply include an additional colour like my Topman rucksack, the maroon colour gives the outfit a great finishing touch. But hey I'm no style guru, I'll let you be the judge.

Having a few hours to kill, my friends and I spent the time wandering around New Farm. It was lucky to even have the opportunity to bask in the sunny skies with all this rain constantly coming and going. But I really like this shot of Frip and I pictured above, aside from a nice photo, it's not often we have the time to hang out.

Taken inside the book room of my mates house. A house of which was once originally a private hospital in the early 70's, had then been converted into an 8 bedroom mysterious fort overseeing the beautiful city of Brisbane.

As exciting as it is to slowly start blogging again, nothing could be more inspiring to post than my weekend vacation in Hong Kong. Originally my trip was only from Brisbane to Manila, but with a spontaneous decision at the last minute I booked a flight to Hong Kong to visit my long-time high school pal Khai Van Kampen. By far notably the best weekend ever!

It was a great experience to be able to see the majority of Hong Kong with Khai, as he'd already been living there for 6 months. With such little time (the weekend only), there was so much to be done. The majority of the days were spent stumbling around, exploring fresh and uncharted spots in Hong Kong. Amongst the hustle of the gritty Mong Kok, private rooftops were used as a form of getaway from the intense crowds, generating a euphoric feeling from the mid level perspective of Hong Kong's majestic high-rises and grungy feel.

Redwing Boots, a necessity for trekking the streets of Hong Kong.

Phasing out

I'm not sure if it's just a phase that I'm going through or if it's the transition being in Australia but I've realized a lot since having time to reflect on my journey. As much as I've enjoyed blogging, it's given me the chance to re-kindle my experiences in the Philippines in an attempt to brush up on my writing skills, so I totally encourage it. I think to myself, had I not pushed myself to try a different lifestyle in the Philippines, I wouldn't be as cultured to try new things and see where it can take me. For instance, looking back on what I have achieved. If I didn't push myself into new fields such as photography, writing, modelling and acting I would probably be the same old average bloke from Australia living a normal life.
